Visa Requirements: To enter Sri Lanka, you must have a Visa prior to arriving in the country. This is via the Sri Lanka Electronic Travel Authorisation System. Tourist visas are normally valid for a maximum period of 30 days and now carry a fee.


Spoken Languages: Sinhala and Tamil are the official languages; English is widely spoken


Tipping Culture: The amount you tip in Sri Lanka will depend on where you are and what type of services you’re buying. As a rule, expect to tip around 10% of the bill. Drivers, guides, and hotel porters will also expect a tip.

Colombo

Kandy

Kandy is Sri Lanka’s second largest city and is famed for not only its history, artefacts and temples, but also for its tea, its stunning scenery and beautiful botanical gardens. The most visited attraction within bustling Kandy is the famed Buddhist Temple of the Tooth, said to be a piece of Buddha himself. 

Surrounding Kandy are rolling tea plantations and mountainous forest hills that offer many walking and hiking opportunities.

Galle

Experience a mixture of cultures within the ancient walls of UNSECO-listed Galle Fort. Its ancient streets are home to Dutch and Anglican churches, Islamic mosques, antique shops, picturesque cafes and locals selling freshly baked bread.

The Old Dutch Hospital has been converted into an abundance of restaurants as pretty as the food is delicious.

Tangalle

Tangalle is an important fishing port, situated on one of the largest bays in Sri Lanka, protected from the Indian Ccean by an enclosing reef. It is a centre of tourism and a popular holiday destination on the south coast

Visit the Mulkiligara Raja Maha Vihara Buddhist temple, see the giant Buddha and statues depicting hell at Wewurukannala temple, relax at Hiriketiya Beach, watch the sea gush at the Hummunaya Blowhole, and explore a spice garden,
